Twifo Heman Lower Denkyira Districts Assembly with its Administrative capital Heman was carved from Twifo-Heman Lower Denkyira District (now Twifo-Ati Mrokwa) and forms part of the new districts and municipalities created in the year 2012 and were inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012.

The District is one of the Twenty two (22) Metropolitan, Municipalities, and Districts in the Central Region of Ghana.

The District is located on the western part of the Central Region of Ghana and occupies a landmass of 575.5 square kilometers making it one of the biggest districts in the Central Region.

It shares common boundaries on the north with the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District, the south with Cape Coast Metropolis, the west with Amenfi West Municipal and Mpohor Districts, and on the east with the Assin South District.

The population of the district according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 55,131 with 27,370 male and 27,761 female.
