Gov’t is committed to completing all sea defence projects - Kofi Dzamesi
The Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Kofi Dzameshie has given indication that government is committed to continue all sea defence projects to protect the coastal communities from the effects of ranging sea.

According to him, the Minister of Finance has been instructed to make funds available to contractors working on these sea defence walls. He believes that in no time the contractors will be back to site to continue the projects.

Mr Dzamesi who was addressing the chiefs and people of Aflao on the occasion of the celebration of the grand durbar of the 2017 Godigbe Festival further stated that currently proposals for the establishment of coconut processing factory, ceramics and biscuit factory among others are being considered for the Ketu South Municipality in line with the government’s “one district, on factory” policy.

He therefore encouraged the people to see the 24 hour border opening as a step towards the realization of regional integration as individual member countries of ECOWAS.

He recognized that this comes with certain challenges and that it needs the support of all chiefs and people of all border communities to enable us benefit from the 24hours border opening.
He however cautioned the people not to derail the work of the border and revenue officials and warned officials not to take negative advantage of the system.

Mr. Kofi Dzamesi has also assured the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area that his request to have a traditional council for the area will be granted, stating that the sector ministry together with the Volta Regional House of Chiefs is working assiduously to ensure that in a very short time, Aflao shall be given a status of a traditional council.
