Central Gonja: DCE justifies need for Savanna Region
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Central Gonja in the Northern region, Mr Mustapha Mahama has justified the rationale behind their call for the creation of a Region, saying that any move of that sort will only foster development in the area.

The DCE said this when the commission of inquiry visited the region with regards to a petition presented to President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo by the Chiefs and people of Gonja land recommending the creation of the Savanna Region.

The DCE assures the commission of a comfortable working relationship and noted that more than 20,115 people signed petition in support of the chiefs for the creation of the Region.


Speaking on behalf of the chiefs and people of the area, Buipe wura Abdullai Jinapor II, also pledged to support and offer any necessary assistance to enhance their work.


The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Yapei/ Kusuwgu, Alhaji Amadu Seidu, also on his part, went through the profile of the district land mark, location, size, ethnic groups, and occupation among others and urged the commission to recommend to the president of the creation of the savanna region.


Other dignitaries present were Former DCEs of CGDA Shiraz Ibn Yacin and Issifu Sualisu Bewulibe, Former MP Amadu Seidu, current MP, John Jinapor, the Presiding Member and the traditional leaders of the region.
