The team trained on Fire Management under the tutelage of officers from the Ghana National Fire Service was presented with certificates.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr. Benjamin Kingsley Koduah speaking at the inaugural ceremony congratulated officers of the Fire Volunteer Squad for successfully passing out from the training and their willingness to render selfless service to their community and the District.

He indicated that their work involves measures to ensure that their community becomes free from fire risk acts to a drastic minimum and admonished them to inculcate in their activities, the sensitization of members of the community on the domestic use of fire as it is another area that requires much attention.

The DCE urged community members to avoid acts of starting bushfires for any reason as it has led to the huge destruction of vegetation while endangering the lives of humans and animals alike.

He also indicated that the burning of bushes for game or any other reasons has led to economic losses with the destruction of farms and farm crops.

Mr. Koduah pledged a donation of 36 Wellington boots and Cutlasses each to the Fire Commanders for onward distribution to the volunteers.
