According to him, Mr Kofi Annan was an important historical figure who displayed a good sense of maturity and also played a crucial role in settling political disputes for the progress of Africa and other continents across the globe.

He thus encouraged them to tap into the knowledge and idea that Mr Annan has left behind to ensure that Africa becomes a better place for all.

Rev. Osafo-Mireku was speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, after his Association has successfully file past the mortal remains of the former UN Secretary General at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), today.

He described Mr Annan as a great source of motivation who led important reforms during his tenure at the United Nations and also implemented road maps to ensure peace and democratic governance in most countries in the world.

“But for the good leadership skills of Mr Annan, democratic governance in most countries, especially in Africa would have been in shambles”. Kofi Annan was the one who brokered a peace deal for Kenya between President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga in 2008 to end a potential post-election uproar”, he added.

On his part, Director of Finance of GUNA, Pastor Anthony Akwasi Amankwah also encourage and advise the youth to emulate Mr Annan’s legacy since, he said, Mr Annan was the only recognized UN employee to rise through the ranks at his youthful age to occupy the position of Secretary-General.

He also urged the media to use their platform to preach peace since that was what the former UN Secretary-General stood for.
