SUNYANI M: 83 needy but brilliant students supported
Some eighty-three (83) needy but brilliant students have received financial assistance from the Sunyani Municipal Assembly in the Brong Ahafo region to enable them further their education.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Evelen Ama Kumi-Richardson, who disclosed this when addressing Assembly members and other stakeholders at the Assembly’s Third Ordinary Meeting on Friday, further stated that the beneficiaries had earlier approached the assembly for financial assistance to enable them further their education in either tertiary or secondary levels.

The MCE in her keynote address said that: “in line with the guidelines for the disbursement of the District Assemblies Common Fund, an amount of twenty five thousand Ghana Cedis (GHs 25,000) was released to assist eighty three brilliant but needy students who applied for assistance from the second and tertiary level schools of learning.”


She pledged the assembly’s resilience to ensure that needy but brilliant students are supported in any capacity to enable them realize their dreams and aspirations, adding that the assembly will therefore not relent on supporting any of such students in the area.

In a related development, Madam Kumi-Richardson also revealed that, work has started on the construction of a two storey administration block for the Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

“Honorable members, the new 2 storey administration block for the Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service I informed you during our last meeting, had now been awarded on contract and work had begun” the MCE stated
