Addressing stakeholders at a public forum organized by the assembly, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Alexander Frimpong who was full of praise for the stakeholders for their supports and commitment towards development of the district ever since he assumed office, underscored the vital roles played by their stakeholders in the day to day running of the Assembly and their quest to meet the developmental needs of their people.

As such, the forum was primarily to enable the key stakeholders engage them (managers of the district) on pertinent developmental issues concerning the district and to further deepen their cooperation towards unity in development.

The DCE thus announced that there are major plans by the Assembly to collaborate with key stakeholders on some critical areas of the district's economy for accelerated development. Among the areas include;
  • improvement of revenue generation;
  • Partner with the Traditional authorities to provide sector layout;
  • Encourage PPP through collaboration;
  • Construction of Transit Terminal at Juaso in partnership with private sector; and
  • Human resource development,

He said the Assembly is on course having chalked some successes within the period, and these would go a long way to impact positively on the lives of the people.

Some of these achievements he stated are:
• established a good relationship with Traditional and Opinion leaders within the district;
• Attainment of Municipality Status;
• Scholarships awarded for further studies Abroad;
• Support Students in Fee paying;
• Renovation of Assembly block and bungalows;
• Inventory on inaccessible roads in the district;
• Enhancing security; (Fulani herdsmen);
• Erection of Telecom mast is ongoing at Amantia and Banka; and
• Supporting GES activities.

The District Coordinating Director, Mrs. Louisa Benon, his her welcome address noted the forum was one of the key mechanisms that offer them the opportunity to interact with their key stakeholders by reporting to them their service provision, significant development initiatives and also to get feedback from them concerning the current situations and future needs”.

She stated that though the Assembly is responsible for the overall development of the district, it cannot do that without the involvement of the people who will be beneficiaries. “…however it cannot prosecute the agenda without the involvement of the people at the local level who are the beneficiaries. I wish to indicate that, by the tenets of decentralization, people at the local level have to be involved in the decision making process of the Assembly”.

The Director therefore urged full and committed participation in ensuring effective planning and implementation of the development projects and programs; adding that the forum also provides opportunity for authorities to educate and inform the people on government policies so that they can better be understood.

Madam Benon also used the occasion to appeal to the citizens to honour their tax obligations to the assembly, reminding them that it is through these taxes, rates, and levies that the Assembly is able to undertake its developmental needs for the various communities.
