TAIN: MP, DCE join Muslims at Eid prayers
The Member of Parliament for Tain constituency Mr. Gabriel Osei and District Chief Executive Lawyer Charity Akua Foriwaa together with other party functionaries joined Muslim brothers and sisters at Eid prayer grounds in the district to mark the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Eid-ul-Fitr is the feast of the breaking of the fast that begins when the moon rises on the final day of Ramadan.

Ramadan saw Muslims only eat and drink twice a day, once after daybreak and once after sunset due to religious traditions. Muslims during this period are encouraged to use the time for religious introspection and helping others with donations to charity and food for the poor.

The period which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed according to Islamic belief.

Leading the Muslims in prayers, the Acting District Chief Imam Seidu Abdulai said Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, improvement and increased devotion and worship.

He added that Muslims are expected to put in more effort into following the teachings of Islam.

The Chief Imam asked for long life and prosperity for the officials and told them consider them when government is sending people for this year’s Hajj.



Mr. Gabriel Osei congratulated them for a successful completion of Ramadan Mubarak. He urged the Muslim community to live a peaceful life to reflect the tenets of Islam.

Ramadan in Islam is the period where Muslims fast for purity and is also the time when Muslims pray for God’s intervention in activities of men. He therefore asked them to continuing praying for the district and the country as a whole.

He said government has initiated several socio-economic policies to accelerate development in the country. He said the zongo development fund which is an initiative of NPP government is target at developing all zongoes in the country.

He stated that government is putting in measures to enroll the Arabic language in the educational calendar. As a result ten people in the district has been selected to teach Arabic in the various schools as a way of sustaining the Islamic religion.

He added that he has put in measures to train the youth in the district different kinds of trades of their interest and asked them to encourage their children to join and benefit from such initiative.
