Speaking at the Assembly’s first ordinary meeting on Thursday, the MCE disclosed that the Assembly has been engaging the sector minister to consider enrolling the hospital onto the government’s Agenda 111 initiative which aims at providing quality and accessible healthcare in all districts and regions.

He stated: “The construction of the La General Hospital has been a burden on my heart. I have been in consultation with the sector minister to enrol this project on the Agenda 111”,.

Meanwhile, as an intervention to help mitigate its impact on the society, Mr Kotey Nikoi revealed that the assembly has put up a temporary structure at Man Saamo Kpee compound to provide healthcare for the people.

The structure, known as La Polyclinic, he said provides essential but limited number of healthcare services like OPD, antenatal care, pharmacy, public health and laboratory to the people, and runs 12 hours daily.

He further revealed that the Assembly is also engaging a private sector organization to join hands to convert a private health facility into a polyclinic to help improve health service delivery to the people.
