Enyan Abaasa community gets Astroturf

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has conducted the technical handing over of the newly constructed Astroturf facility at Enyan Abaasa in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.

The facility forms part of the GNPC’s social investment drive which is aimed at shoring up sports infrastructure development across the country.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the residents, the District Chief Executive of the area, Mr. Ransford Emmanuel Kwesi Nyarko, thanked GNPC for reaching out to the people in his community and promised to put the facility to good use.

Mr. Benedict Adde, Officer with the Environment & Social Amenities Unit of the GNPC Foundation said that it is GNPC’s expectation that the Fifa standard pitch equipped with floodlights and a fence would among other things, inspire the youth of the area and adjoining communities to, beyond the recreational value of the facility, accept it as an opportunity to train on and harness their sporting potentials as a credible path to achieving their dreams and creating wealth for themselves, their families and community.

He further tasked the Assembly and community leaders to ensure the facility’s longevity by instituting measures that sustain its maintenance to serve the people.
