KWAHU A P S: Bridge in the offing over Afram River
The prayer of residents in the Afram Plains in the Eastern Region is on the verge of coming to fruition.

Many a resident in the district had always advocated for the construction of a bridge across the Afram River.

To them a bridge would help reduce the strenuous and tiresome experience one has to grapple with when travelling to the Afram Plains.

Addressing a Town Hall Meeting at Tease, the District Chief Executive for Kwahu Afram Plains South, Mr. George Ofori assured the people of Government’s determination to construct a bridge across the Afram River.

He said a team of engineers from China and Norway recently came and conducted feasibility study on the project and the outcome was positive.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo during the 2016 electioneering campaign promised the people in the Afram Plains about his resolve to construct a bridge across the River Afram to help abate the frustration and difficulties people go through when travelling to the Afram Plains.

This, he said shall open the place for development.



The District Chief Executive applauded the government for the various interventions put in place and the dedication of the Assembly to see to the success of those interventions:

PLANTING FOR FOOD AND JOBS

The Assembly received a total of 9,020 bags of NPK, 4550 bags of Urea and 540 bags of seed maize under the program. However only 6774 bags of NPK, 4500 bags of Urea and 213 bags of seed maize were distributed to farmers per request received.

ONE DISTRICT ONE FACTORY

The Kwahu Afram Plains South has earmarked ethanol production under the 1D1F program, this is because of the abundance of cassava in the district. Site preparation is ongoing for the program to start.

The DCE commended the Information Services Department for the organization of the event. He said such events affords the people the opportunity to interact with those entrusted with governance.

The Town Hall Meeting, an initiative of Information Services Department seeks to give members and leaders of the various communities the opportunity to discuss progress and emerging issues in both central and local government, thus bringing to people up to speed on major government policies and programs and to obtain feedback from the citizenry for the development and governance process across the nation.
