MP, DCE commends OLA Girls at Independence Parade
Hon. Anthony Mensah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi North District of the Brong Ahafo Region on Tuesday, commended students of OLA Girls Senior High School for emerging first in the 21st National Debate Competition organized for Senior High Schools in the country.

The event took place at the Conference Hall of Accra Girls Senior High School was on the topic “Attitudes will put Ghana Beyond Aid”. The hopes of Accra Academy Senior High who represented the South sector were dashed who the female counterparts from Kenyasi No.2 in the Asutifi North District of the region put up a spirited challenge scoring 80% to emerge winners as Accra Academy obtained 79.6%.
He pledged government and the assembly’s commitment to the development of the education subsector of the district as a means of transforming the development of the area and improving of the living standards of residents.
The DCE made the commendations in address to hundreds of pupils and residents at Kenyasi No.2 School in commemoration of Ghana’s 61st Independence Anniversary celebration on the theme: “Ghana Beyond Aid”.
The debate was held on the topic: “Attitudes would put Ghana Beyond Aid”.
Touching on the Presidential address, Hon. Anthony Mensah catalogued interventions undertaken by the assembly to expand educational infrastructure and motivation to enhance effective teaching and learning in the district.
He therefore appealed to parents and development partners to collaborate with the assembly to fashion out the needed interventions for development.
The Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Benhanzin Joseph Daha later made a personal donation of GHc 3,000.00 to the school and the pupils for exhibiting such sterling performance.
Several pupils and students drawn from Primary, Junior and two Senior High Schools took part the march past. Various interest groups from OLA Girls cadet, dressmakers and farmer base groups support the occasion with their unique march and skills in their profession.
