Assembly Empowers Persons with Disabilities with Economic Support Items

The Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly, through its Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, has disbursed a range of economic empowerment items to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the municipality.

The items, which include spraying machines, fufu pounding machines, container stalls, baking ovens, among others, are aimed at supporting beneficiaries to engage in income-generating activities and improve their livelihoods.

The intervention was funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), specifically the allocation dedicated to Persons with Disabilities. This initiative forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing commitment to promoting inclusive development and reducing economic hardship among vulnerable groups.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Hon. Philibert Selorm Fummey, emphasized that the John Dramani Mahama-led administration remains deeply committed to the welfare of Persons with Disabilities. He noted that deliberate policies and interventions have been put in place to support PWDs and enhance their participation in socio-economic activities.

Hon.Philibert Selorm Fummey further assured beneficiaries of government’s continuous support, stressing that Persons with Disabilities will not be left behind in national development. He reiterated that their concerns will be duly considered in decision-making processes to ensure inclusivity and equal opportunities for all.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Assembly and the government for the timely intervention, describing it as a significant boost to their economic independence.
