The training, held at the Kodie Methodist Church from March 10 to 11, 2026, was aimed at equipping beneficiaries with vocational skills to enable them to start their own businesses and become self-reliant.

The programme was organised by the District Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Cheslyn Nutsugah, who noted that the initiative formed part of efforts to economically empower persons with disabilities in the district.

The training featured two main sessions , bead making and soap making. During which participants received hands-on training in producing items such as liquid soap, antiseptics, Parazone, and bar soap.

The bead-making session was facilitated by Ms Kate Siakwa, while the soap-making session was handled by Madam Cynthia Ntow.

Speaking at the programme, Mr. Nutsugah encouraged participants to take the training seriously.

“The aim of this training is to empower them to start their own businesses. If they fully participate and make it their livelihood, they will be able to generate income to cater for themselves and their families,” he said.

He further emphasised that the skills acquired would help reduce dependency and improve the living conditions of persons with disabilities in the district.

Some participants expressed appreciation to the Social Welfare Department for the initiative, describing it as a step towards financial independence.

The programme forms part of the district’s commitment to promoting inclusive development and improving the welfare of vulnerable groups within the community.
