The ceremony marks the commencement of a major development initiative aimed at transforming the local economy and enhancing commercial activities within the district.
The project is being undertaken with the support of the Member of Parliament for Zabzugu, Alhaji Alhassan Umar, and under the broader vision of President John Dramani Mahama to promote grassroots economic development through the 24-hour economy policy.
The proposed market is expected to serve as a modern commercial hub operating around the clock, providing a wide range of services to residents and traders within Zabzugu and its surrounding communities.
Key components of the project include market stalls and trading areas, a police post, a fire service post, a day care centre, a pharmacy and clinic, a women’s bank, warehouses, environmental and sanitation offices, a livestock market with a dedicated meat section, as well as a restaurant, supermarket, and retail stores.
Speaking at the ceremony, the DCE described the project as a significant milestone in the district’s development agenda, noting that it will boost economic activities, create employment opportunities, and improve the livelihoods of residents.
He expressed appreciation to the community for their continued support and urged the contractor to ensure quality work and timely completion of the project.
The 24-Hour Economy Market is expected to be completed within 30 months, with authorities assuring the public of regular updates on its progress.
