Keta Municipal Assembly Supports Persons with Disabilities with Start-Up Kits and Financial Aid

The Keta Municipal Assembly has provided start-up kits and financial assistance to 14 persons with disabilities and their caregivers to support and expand their livelihoods.

The intervention, was facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development and funded through the 3 percent allocation of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund reserved for persons with disabilities.

Items distributed to beneficiaries included deep freezers, irrigation machines, industrial sewing machines, and other equipment aimed at strengthening income-generating activities.

Addressing recipients at the presentation ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive, Wisdom Seade, urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the support to improve their living conditions. He emphasized that disability should not be seen as a limitation, stating that “disability is not inability.”

The initiative underscores the Assembly’s commitment to promoting inclusivity, economic empowerment, and improved livelihoods for persons with disabilities within the municipality.
