The intervention has successfully secured approval for the construction of modern water treatment plants at Papaase, alongside the installation of a booster system at Asalaga, aimed at improving water distribution and ensuring consistent supply to underserved communities.

In a decisive move to advance the implementation of the project, a joint technical team from the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) and the District Assembly conducted a comprehensive site inspection at the proposed project locations. The exercise formed part of preparatory activities toward the commencement of the critical infrastructure works.

The delegation was led by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CWSA, Nuhu Putiaha, and included the Regional Director, Dr. Gustav Osiakwan, as well as the District Chief Executive for Awutu Senya West, Hon. Eghan Kalala Nyamekye. Their presence underscored the importance attached to the project and the urgency required in addressing the water crisis.

During the inspection, the team carefully assessed the suitability of the sites at Papaase and Asalaga, took key geographical coordinates, and engaged in strategic discussions on immediate and long-term interventions needed to tackle the situation. Technical considerations, including system capacity, distribution efficiency, and sustainability measures, were also reviewed to ensure the project delivers lasting impact.

Residents in the affected communities have for years grappled with unreliable access to potable water, a situation that has impacted livelihoods, sanitation, and overall well-being. The planned intervention is therefore expected to bring much-needed relief and significantly improve living conditions.

The initiative marks a major step toward restoring dependable water supply across the district and reflects government’s commitment to improving essential services and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
