The ultramodern facility, which was constructed with funding from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), is intended to provide befitting office accommodation for the Ghana Police Service while improving police visibility, operational efficiency and personnel morale across Akatsi North.
Construction of the facility commenced in 2016 and was completed as part of efforts to provide the Police Service with the necessary infrastructure to effectively protect lives and property.
The commissioning, held under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening security infrastructure and creating a safe environment for socio-economic development.
The initiative also received commendation for the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akatsi North, Hon. Bless Kodjo Katamani, whose leadership, strategic engagement and commitment were credited with helping to bring the project to fruition.
The project forms part of the Assembly’s broader development agenda aimed at transforming Akatsi North into a safer and more development-oriented district.
In the area of security and governance, the Assembly continues to collaborate with traditional authorities and security agencies to maintain peace and protect lives and property.
The Assembly is also implementing interventions in education through improvements in school infrastructure and support for teaching and learning, while road projects are being undertaken to improve access to communities, markets, health facilities and other essential services.
The district has further invested in water systems to expand access to potable water and improve the health and livelihoods of residents.
The leadership of the Assembly has also commended the Mahama-led government for economic policies which, according to the Assembly, have contributed to reductions in fuel prices and an appreciation of the cedi, helping to ease the cost of living for residents.
These interventions are being implemented in line with the government's Resetting Agenda, which places emphasis on accountability, inclusive development and improving the wellbeing of Ghanaians.
The commissioning of the Police Headquarters was therefore described as more than the completion of a physical structure, but as a demonstration of the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening security and creating an enabling environment for development.
The Assembly congratulated the chiefs, people and staff of the Akatsi North District for their cooperation, patriotism and collective efforts towards the realisation of the project.
The new facility is expected to enhance policing operations and provide a stronger security presence for communities across the district.
