At a brief ceremony held at the MCE’s official residence on Tuesday, Hon. Kusi distributed various vocational training equipment, including industrial sewing machines, hand sewing machines, and dryers, to selected beneficiaries under the Birim Central Skills Empowerment Programme.
The initiative forms part of the MCE’s commitment to dedicate 30 percent of his salary towards supporting youth development and creating opportunities for young people to acquire employable skills.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Kusi emphasized that the programme is aimed at equipping apprentices and trainees with the practical tools needed to enhance their vocational training, build sustainable livelihoods, and become self-reliant.
He noted that empowering young people through skills development remains a critical strategy for reducing unemployment and addressing social challenges such as drug abuse among the youth.
According to the MCE, investing in vocational training and entrepreneurship will help strengthen the local economy by creating more productive and economically active young people.
Hon. Kusi expressed satisfaction with the positive impact of the initiative, stating that the excitement and appreciation shown by beneficiaries further reinforced his belief in the importance of targeted investments in youth empowerment.
He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the programme and continuing to channel resources into initiatives that create opportunities and improve the lives of young people across Birim Central.
The MCE also extended his gratitude to all stakeholders, community members, and supporters who witnessed and contributed to the successful implementation of the initiative, describing it as another significant step towards the development and empowerment of the municipality’s youth.
