Gushegu MCE Supports 100 Persons with Disabilities with Farming Inputs and Financial Assistance

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Gushegu, Hon. Abdul-Hafiz Adam, has disbursed various forms of support to Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality as part of efforts to promote their socio-economic empowerment.

The support package, which was presented at a ceremony held at the Gushegu Municipal Assembly, benefited about 100 persons with disabilities and forms part of the Assembly's commitment to improving the livelihoods of vulnerable groups.

As part of the intervention, each beneficiary received two bags of fertilizer, agrochemicals and GH¢400 to facilitate the cultivation of at least two acres of farmland during the current farming season.

The initiative is expected to enhance food production and create sustainable income opportunities for the beneficiaries.

In addition to the agricultural support, two beneficiaries received three-wheel motorcycles to improve their mobility and support their daily activities. The recipients included a student and a phone repair technician.

Another beneficiary was presented with GH¢1,000 to assist with healthcare expenses.

The Assembly also extended educational support to three persons with disabilities, who received GH¢1,000, GH¢1,500 and GH¢2,000 respectively to help pay school fees and purchase educational materials.

Furthermore, a businessman living with a disability received GH¢3,000 to expand and strengthen his entrepreneurial venture.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Abdul-Hafiz Adam reiterated the Assembly's commitment to ensuring that persons with disabilities are provided with opportunities to improve their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to the development of the municipality.

He noted that the disbursement represents the third batch of support since he assumed office, adding that a fourth batch is scheduled to be rolled out next month to benefit more persons with disabilities.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Municipal Assembly and the government for the support, describing the intervention as timely and impactful in improving their living conditions and economic prospects.
