The project, a collaborative effort between the Assembly Member, the school authorities and the community, has progressed to the window level—an achievement Mr. Atitianti described as a significant milestone.
In an interview, he commended Mr. Divine McCarthy, former head teacher of the school, for conceiving the idea and jointly cutting the sod with him to commence the project.
According to Mr. Atitianti, construction began in 2024 with funds mobilised through termly communal harvests, during which residents made contributions towards the building. He added that the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) had also agreed to support the project by incorporating a small levy into examination fees and other school dues.
He noted that the community has demonstrated strong commitment, with residents actively participating in the construction works and contributing immensely to the progress achieved so far.
However, he indicated that additional materials—including cement, iron rods, boards and roofing sheets—are still needed to ensure the timely completion of the project.
“We are aiming to complete it before the end of the year because the teachers are facing serious accommodation challenges. Some find it difficult to accept postings here due to the lack of housing,” he said.
Mr. Atitianti therefore appealed to the public, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to support the initiative to help bring the project to completion as soon as possible.
