Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey Sparks Education Revolution with 11 Major GETFund Projects in Yilo Krobo Municipality

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has ignited a major wave of educational transformation in the Yilo Krobo Municipality after cutting sod for 11 game-changing GETFund-sponsored infrastructure projects aimed at reshaping the future of teaching and learning.

The ambitious projects span basic, secondary, and tertiary institutions, including the construction of two modern hostel facilities at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, designed to improve accommodation and support academic excellence. At the secondary level, Yilo Krobo Senior High School will benefit from two-storey dormitory blocks and a three-storey 18-unit classroom complex, eliminating congestion and creating a more conducive learning environment for students.

At the basic education level, Aboabo Basic School will receive a new six-unit classroom block, while Klo-Agogo Senior High School will see massive upgrades, including staff bungalows, a headmistress’s residence, a two-storey administration block with a library, and a fully equipped dining hall with kitchen facilities. Additional classroom blocks and staff quarters at Sra Presby Basic School and Somanya Presby Junior High School will further strengthen education delivery across the municipality.

Speaking at the ceremonies, the Minister reaffirmed government’s determination to invest heavily in education infrastructure to meet rising enrolment and improve academic performance. She stressed that the projects would ease accommodation challenges, enhance school management, and create an environment where both students and teachers can thrive.

She also issued a strong call to contractors to deliver quality work within schedule and urged communities and school authorities to protect and maintain the facilities to ensure long-term benefits.

The massive GETFund intervention signals a bold step toward positioning Yilo Krobo as a rising education hub, bringing renewed hope to students, teachers, and families eager for quality education and brighter opportunities.
