The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Denkyembour District, Mr. Umar Ahmed Tutu, together with the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akwatia constituency, Mr. Bernard Bediako Baidoo, and a team from the District Assembly, has visited St. Roses Senior High School in Akwatia to officially hand over an abandoned classroom block project to a new contractor.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts by the District Assembly and key stakeholders to revive stalled educational infrastructure projects across the district.

The classroom block project, which was initially awarded as a six-unit facility, had been abandoned for some time. Following a review of the school’s growing infrastructure needs, the project has now been re-awarded as a fifteen-unit classroom block.

The expanded scope of the project is expected to significantly enhance teaching and learning conditions at St. Roses Senior High School. As part of the exercise, the school’s administration, the DCE, and the MP met with the contractor and project consultants at the school premises. A formal handing-over ceremony was subsequently held to officially transfer the site to the contractor for the commencement of works.

During the engagement, the contractor was briefed on the expectations of the school and stakeholders and was given a nine-month timeline to complete the project.

The contractor assured those present of their readiness to mobilize to site and deliver the project in accordance with the approved specifications and within the stipulated timeframe.

The project is being funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).
