The exercise forms part of the national sanitation campaign directed by President John Dramani Mahama.

The exercise brought together Assembly staff, security agencies, party activists, traders, youth groups, students from Sawla Senior High School and St. Cyprian’s Minor Seminary Senior High School, and other residents. Participants swept streets, desilted drains, and cleared refuse from markets, lorry parks, and other public spaces in the district capital.

Although the DCE was present, an address on her behalf was delivered by the District Coordinating Director. He commended the students and all participants for their commitment and urged residents to embrace cleanliness as a shared responsibility.

“Sanitation is not for government alone. We must all take ownership of our environment to build healthier and more sustainable communities,” he stated on behalf of Hon. Saaka.

The Coordinating Director further reiterated the DCE’s call for residents to fully participate in the President’s directive to observe clean-up exercises on the first Saturday of every month.

The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assembly says similar clean-up exercises will be rolled out to other communities in the district in the coming weeks.
