Babatokuma Zonal Council holds annual meeting

The Babatokuma Zonal Council, one of the four zonal councils in the Kintampo Municipal Assembly has in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly organized this year’s annual Zonal Meeting of Babatokuma at a community under their council at Atta Akura.

The programme was used to brief the people on developments in the various sectors including education, health, agriculture and environmental management, environmental health, water, sanitation and hygiene, revenue and local economic development, and tourism development.

On education, the zonal council benefited from 2 kindergarten blocks at Babatokuma, and construction of 1 No. 6 unit classroom block at Atta Akura which is at the procurement stage under GETfund. Health also had upgrading of Chips compound to be renovated by the Municipal
Assembly and another community-based planning and service center to be constructed at Atta Akura which approval has been given.

In Agriculture, Acquisition/ Monitoring/Evaluation of vehicle for the Department on Planting for Food and Jobs program and Establishment of Ginger farms and processing machines.



Environment Health, Water, Sanitation also had construction of 1no. Water closet toilets with a Borehole at Babatokuma which is at footings state under government special projects, contraction of slaughterhouse yet to be started, construction 1no. Urinary at Babatokuma market done through internally generated funds.

Social, local economy, industrial and business advisory, tourism development and revenue improvement for 2019 also touched on, Roads, Governance (Administration) Security, Telecommunication and electrification was also not left out.

General projects which have benefit for the people of the Municipality, was also touched on.



Delay in funds release, inadequate revenue mobilization and arm robbery attacks were some of the challenges comforting the BabatorKuma Zonal Council in the Municipality.

Timely release of funds, strategies to improve revenue of the Municipality, and how to beef-up security by the police at Babatokuma zonal Council were also some of the way forward mentioned by the Municipal Planning officer.

The Chief and people were so much grateful for organizing this year’s Town Hall Meeting at their community.

50 bags of cement, 5 shovels and 5 pickaxes was donated to the Chief and people of Atta Akura by the Acting Chairman and secretary of the Babato Kuma Zonal Council Mr. Mohammed Abdul Aziz Sumailer and Isaac T. Ukpan respectively.
