The first incident occurred at Busia Junction, where a giant mahogany tree crashed onto the main highway, completely blocking vehicular traffic and bringing movement along the busy route to a halt. Shortly afterwards, another large mahogany tree fell at Odorkor Official Town, obstructing an inner-city road and leaving commuters and residents stranded.

The fallen trees, believed to be several decades old, were unable to withstand the impact of the heavy rains, waterlogged soil, and strong winds that accompanied the storm. Fortunately, no fatalities or serious injuries were recorded in either incident.

Emergency response teams quickly moved into action to clear the affected roads. Personnel from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly coordinated efforts to remove the fallen trees and restore access to the roads.

Using chainsaws, heavy-duty equipment, and other resources, the teams worked through challenging conditions to cut and clear the massive trunks. Within hours, access was restored, allowing stranded motorists and emergency vehicles to continue their journeys.

Residents and road users have commended the swift intervention of the emergency services, praising their professionalism and dedication in responding to the incidents.

Authorities have advised motorists to exercise caution as clean-up operations continue in parts of the affected areas. While both roads have been partially reopened to traffic, drivers are being urged to avoid speeding and adhere to road safety regulations.
