LaDMA Conducts National Sanitation Day Clean-Up Exercise

The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) has successfully carried out a massive clean-up exercise as part of activities marking the National Sanitation Day celebration, reaffirming its commitment to environmental cleanliness and improved public health within the municipality.

The exercise brought together the Municipal Chief Executive, Alfredos Nii Anyetei, Assembly Members, staff of the Assembly, and other stakeholders who actively participated in various sanitation activities across selected communities.

Activities undertaken during the exercise included sweeping principal streets, desilting choked drains, collection and evacuation of refuse, as well as general cleaning of public spaces to promote a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.

The clean-up exercise covered major areas within the municipality including La Wireless, the Accra Mall–Spintex Road stretch, and the Polo Club stretch, where participants worked tirelessly to clear waste and improve sanitation conditions

Speaking during the exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive emphasized the need for residents to support the Assembly’s sanitation efforts by maintaining cleanliness in their homes, shops, and immediate surroundings. He noted that sanitation remains a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of every member of the community.

The Assembly further cautioned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse and poor sanitation practices, warning that offenders who fail to comply with sanitation by-laws would face fines or possible prosecution.

Residents were also encouraged to actively participate in future clean-up exercises by closing their shops and dedicating time to cleaning their surroundings and frontages.

LaDMA noted that the sanitation initiatives form part of broader efforts to reduce disease outbreaks, tackle environmental pollution, and discourage the burning of waste. The Assembly reiterated its commitment to promoting sustainable sanitation practices and encouraging personal responsibility toward environmental hygiene within the municipality.

The successful exercise highlights LaDMA’s continuous dedication to ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment for both residents and visitors in the La Dade-Kotopon Municipality.
