The gesture is aimed at providing the students with some of the essential items required for their transition into boarding school while complementing ongoing efforts to make secondary education accessible to eligible Ghanaian students.
Presenting the items at a brief ceremony, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin explained that the intervention formed part of the Assembly’s corporate social responsibility and its commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of young people within the municipality.
She noted that although secondary education is provided under the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, many families continue to face financial difficulties in purchasing basic items and other necessities that are not covered under the programme.

According to the MCE, the support was therefore intended to reduce some of the financial pressures on parents and guardians and enable the beneficiaries to begin their academic journey with greater confidence and peace of mind.
Hon. Appiah Kannin reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that every student who qualifies for secondary education has the opportunity to pursue it, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
She stressed that investing in the education and development of young people was critical to expanding opportunities for the youth and contributing to the future development of the Obuasi Municipality.
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, the students expressed their appreciation to the MCE and the Obuasi Municipal Assembly for the timely intervention.

They said the support would provide much-needed relief as they prepared to enter boarding school and begin a new chapter in their academic lives.
The students also commended Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin for her concern for their welfare and her continued commitment to supporting education and students within the municipality.
