The tour, which includes selected administrative staff and party officials, aims to identify local needs, resolve pressing issues, and initiate projects to improve living standards.
First Day of Tour: School Project and Water Pledges
On Wednesday, February 4th, the team visited Kensakrom, Atwima Takoradi, Akotaa, and Barniekrom. During a stop at Akotaa, the DCE cut sod for the construction of an ultra-modern Kindergarten school block, a project designed to boost early childhood education in the area.
Hon. Issahak also directed the District Engineer to immediately begin repairs on all faulty boreholes in the visited communities to restore reliable access to clean water. He further assured residents of plans to expand electricity coverage to match community growth.
Second Day: Health Facility and Agricultural Support
The tour continued on Friday, February 6th, with visits to Bedabour, Kwame Dwaa, and Mpasatia. The DCE commended local farmers and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting agriculture through initiatives like free fertilizer distribution and the nkok?-nkitinkiti programme. He announced that 6,700 birds have already been distributed to selected farmers in the district under this scheme.
At Mpasatia, the DCE cut sod for the construction of a new Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound, a project met with great community excitement. He pledged to intensify efforts to alleviate local hardships and called on residents to support the fight against illegal mining (galamsey), which threatens the local environment.
During the visits, District Information Officer Mr. Kwame Sarfo also educated residents on the ongoing Gun Amnesty Programme, which allows for the voluntary surrender of firearms at no cost.
The familiarization tour is part of Hon. Issahak Ibrahim’s broader strategy to foster inclusive development and responsive governance in the Atwima Mponua District.
