The tour was undertaken in the company of the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Abena Kesiwa Kyei, Assembly Members from the affected electoral areas, and selected Heads of Departments.
The team inspected several project sites, including the Baba Yara M/A Basic School, where a clinic, nurses’ quarters, an 18-unit classroom block, and a mosque are under construction. Other sites visited were a three-storey Oyarifa Zonal Council Office, a three-storey 18-unit classroom block at Pantang Hospital Basic School, and ongoing road construction covering 8.3 kilometres within the Pantang enclave and Madina Estate.
The projects were found to be at different stages of completion. While some structures had reached the lintel level, others had their ground floors completed, and the foundations for some two-storey buildings had also been completed. Work on the road projects at Pantang and Madina Estate was also progressing steadily.
At the Pantang Hospital Road project, the Project Manager, Mr. Samuel Opoku Acheampong, explained that although the project was scheduled for completion within two years, noticeable progress would be achieved within the next six months.
He noted that the construction of a culvert across the road had delayed progress, but expressed optimism that once completed, the remaining work would advance more rapidly.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Fussein reiterated the government's commitment to inclusive governance through the provision of development projects at the local level to improve the living conditions of residents.
He explained that bureaucratic procedures within assembly operations sometimes slow down development, but assured residents that the Assembly was working diligently to accelerate progress.
Mr. Fussein further indicated that all 15 electoral areas within the municipality would benefit from various infrastructure projects, including schools, hospitals, clinics, and road networks.
He disclosed that while some of the projects were being financed through the Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF), others were funded under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
The MCE expressed satisfaction with the ongoing road construction on the Pantang stretch, which he indicated was about 60 percent complete.
He appealed to residents and adjoining communities to cooperate with contractors to ensure the smooth execution of the projects for the benefit of all.
Mr. Fussein also urged motorists using the Pantang–Abokobi Road to exercise patience and caution as construction work continues.
He commended the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, for his continuous support to the Assembly in addressing the developmental needs of the municipality.
Mr. Fussein reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to expanding development and improving infrastructure across the municipality.
