The Member of Parliament for the area, Elikplim Akurugu, performed the ceremony, marking the start of work on the 8.2-kilometer stretch — a road she noted had remained undeveloped for years despite the efforts of previous administrations.

“This road has been a challenge for far too long. Within just one year in office, we have been able to begin this project, and within eighteen months, it will be completed to provide the transportation convenience our people deserve,” she said.

According to the MP, the commencement of the project is a testament to her effective lobbying. She expressed confidence that one of the constituency’s most difficult road links would soon be completed.

To ensure speedy delivery, the project has been awarded to two contractors who will work on different sections simultaneously.

Described as a transformative initiative, the road project is expected to improve connectivity, boost local economic activity, and ease the daily commute for residents. The MP first announced the project during her maiden State of the Constituency Address, underscoring her commitment to action from the outset of her tenure.

She also highlighted other ongoing infrastructure efforts, noting that on March 2, 2026, she cut the sod for the construction of the 5.2-kilometer Musuku–Grandstar Hotel to Narhman road.

Akurugu pledged to continue engaging with national leadership to secure more developmental projects, pointing out that many roads in the constituency remain unmotorable.

She appealed to residents to cooperate with the contractors to ensure the timely and quality completion of the project
