The lawmakers have petitioned the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over an GH¢11.9 million renovation contract awarded by the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to Stan Dogbe.
Speaking to reporters after submitting the petition at the CID headquarters, Odotobri MP Anthony Mmieh expressed confidence that the allegations would not be difficult to investigate.
“It is not going to be difficult to investigate this matter,” Mmieh said.
When asked what steps the Minority would take if the agencies fail to act within the expected timeframe, Mmieh suggested they had contingency plans.
“We have our own tools and know what to do. At that point, we will come out and let the media know,” he stated.
According to the Minority MPs, the contract was fraught with irregularities. They allege that the legal framework governing contract awards was not followed and that the deal could result in financial loss to the state.
“We want the entire case investigated for us to know what went on. If there are any irregularities, the law should take its course,” Mmieh added.
The group further argued that if the investigation confirms the winning company lacked the requisite documentation and due process was ignored, the contract should be terminated.
“If it is established that due process was not followed, then we expect that the contract would be terminated and the proper thing done,” he said.
