The exercise formed part of efforts to improve sanitation, prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases and encourage residents to adopt good waste management practices. Residents, Assembly staff, traditional leaders, market women, transport operators and youth groups participated in the exercise by desilting drains, clearing weeds and removing refuse from public places.

Municipal authorities urged residents to make environmental cleanliness a daily responsibility instead of limiting it to periodic exercises. They also cautioned against indiscriminate dumping of refuse into drains and open spaces, stressing that such practices contribute to flooding during the rainy season.

The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing sanitation bye-laws while sustaining public education to improve environmental health throughout the municipality. The municipality joined the nationwide sanitation exercise observed in July 2026.
