Accompanied by selected administrative staff and party officials, the tour seeks to bring governance closer to the people by addressing long-standing challenges while fostering inclusive and responsive leadership.
On Wednesday, 4th February, the DCE and his team visited Kensakrom, Atwima Takoradi, Akotaa, and Barniekrom, where they engaged traditional authorities and community members on key development concerns, livelihood opportunities, and social infrastructure needs. At Akotaa, Hon. Issahak cut sod for the construction of an ultra-modern Kindergarten school block, a project expected to significantly boost early childhood education in the community.
During interactions with residents, the DCE directed the District Engineer to urgently commence repairs on all faulty boreholes in the visited communities to restore access to safe and reliable potable water. He further assured residents of plans to expand electricity coverage in line with the rapid growth of settlements within the district.
The tour continued on Friday, 6th February, with visits to Bedabour, Kwame Dwaa, and Mpasatia. Hon. Issahak commended farmers for their resilience and contribution to local development, reaffirming government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture through interventions such as free fertilizer distribution and the flagship Nkok?-Nkitinkiti programme. He disclosed that the programme is already underway in the district, with 6,700 birds distributed to selected farmers.
At Mpasatia, the community witnessed another major milestone as the DCE cut sod for the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound, a move set to improve primary healthcare delivery and reduce travel time for medical services.
Hon. Issahak also reiterated his administration’s resolve to ease economic hardship in the district and called on residents to actively support the fight against illegal mining (galamsey), warning of its devastating impact on the environment and livelihoods.
Adding to the engagement, the District Information Officer, Mr. Kwame Sarfo, educated residents on the Gun Amnesty Programme, encouraging individuals in possession of firearms to voluntarily surrender them to the authorities at no cost, in the interest of peace and security.
The familiarization tour underscores the DCE’s broader vision of inclusive development, community participation, and accountable governance, as Atwima Mponua District charts a steady path toward sustainable growth.
