The birds, which will be distributed to farmers across the district within the next four weeks, form part of the government’s flagship Feed Ghana Programme, aimed at strengthening food security, promoting agribusiness, and expanding local poultry production.
Receiving the consignment, Mr. Anom commended the government and the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, for fulfilling a key campaign promise to support farmers and stimulate the agricultural sector. He described the rollout of the initiative in Atiwa West as a significant milestone that will enhance the district’s poultry value chain, create employment opportunities, and improve livelihoods.
According to the DCE, the programme is expected to particularly benefit youth and women engaged in agribusiness, empowering them to expand their operations and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
He therefore urged residents and prospective beneficiaries to take the programme seriously and make effective use of the birds to ensure sustainability and long-term impact.
The Nkoko Nketenkete initiative continues to serve as a strategic intervention to reduce poultry imports, promote local production, and position districts like Atiwa West as key contributors to Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda.
