The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Yendi, Mr. Muniru Sugri, led a high-powered delegation on a monitoring tour of ongoing construction projects within the municipality.

The team included the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Adam Mohammed, the Presiding Member, Mr. Achiri, and other key officials of the Assembly.

The inspection focused on projects aimed at improving education, healthcare, and local economic activities. Sites visited included a three-unit classroom block at Katinguli, a JHS block at Pion, the Bunbon Market renovation project, a Kindergarten block at Kuga, as well as CHPS compounds at Kulkpeni and Nakpachei.

At each location, the MCE and his delegation interacted with contractors, assessed the quality of work, and evaluated the pace of construction. The observations reflected steady progress and a clear determination to translate development plans into tangible outcomes.

In a show of immediate support for traders, Hon. Muniru Sugri also donated streetlights along the road leading to the Bunbon Market. The gesture is expected to enhance security, improve visibility, and stimulate night-time economic activities in and around the market.

Addressing the media after the tour, the MCE expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved just one month and three weeks after the sod-cutting ceremonies. He emphasized that regular monitoring forms a critical part of his duties, ensuring accountability, quality workmanship, and timely completion of projects.

He further disclosed that contractors have been given a six-month timeline to complete their respective works. Barring unforeseen challenges, the projects are expected to be completed, commissioned, and officially handed over to beneficiary institutions by June 2026.

For residents of Yendi, the inspection tour served as a reassurance that development commitments are being backed by action. It underscored leadership that goes beyond ceremonial beginnings to active supervision at every critical stage of implementation.
