The district’s road network is broadly categorized into feeder roads and urban highways, accounting for approximately 70 percent and 30 percent respectively.

According to sector updates, most feeder roads across the district are in fairly good condition, largely due to regular reshaping and maintenance works undertaken by the Assembly to keep rural communities accessible and connected.

However, the situation is less encouraging in urban areas, where many roads are in poor condition, making transportation uncomfortable and affecting the smooth movement of goods and people.

Stakeholders note that the poor state of urban roads continues to impact daily economic activities, access to services, and overall mobility within key towns in the district.

The Assembly is expected to intensify efforts to improve urban road networks as part of broader infrastructure development plans aimed at enhancing connectivity, boosting local commerce, and improving living conditions for residents.

Residents have called for accelerated interventions to upgrade the urban roads to match the improving standards of feeder roads, which remain vital for linking farming communities to market centres.
