MCE Highlights Major Infrastructure Achievements in Oforikrom

The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has stepped up infrastructure development efforts across the municipality, undertaking major investments in transportation, drainage, education, health and public lighting to enhance mobility, public safety and environmental resilience.

Delivering his sessional address at the Assembly's General Meeting, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed, highlighted significant progress made in the implementation of development projects across key sectors.


A major achievement outlined in the address was the successful completion of a municipality-wide street lighting project. According to the MCE, the Assembly completed the supply and installation of streetlights on principal roads within the municipality, a move expected to improve road visibility and enhance security during nighttime hours.


Hon. Sadat noted that the Assembly had also procured illumination accessories to ensure the sustainability and effective maintenance of the street lighting system.



The MCE emphasized that transportation infrastructure and environmental resilience remain at the heart of the Assembly's development agenda. He disclosed that the Assembly had completed the dredging and desilting of waterways across the municipality to improve drainage systems, reduce the risk of flooding and protect road networks and surrounding communities.


In the education sector, the Assembly has rehabilitated a six-unit classroom block at Kotei R/C Basic School. Construction is also ongoing on a kindergarten block at Weweso and a three-unit classroom block at Emena. Additionally, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory has been completed at Deduako M/A Junior High School to support digital learning.


On healthcare delivery, Hon. Sadat announced that construction works have commenced on a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Deduako to improve access to quality healthcare services for residents.


The Assembly has also made strides in improving sanitation within the municipality. A skip pad has been completed at Deduako, while tricycles and refuse containers have been procured to strengthen waste collection and management operations.


Hon. Sadat assured members of the General Assembly and residents that the Assembly would continue to pursue infrastructure projects that directly improve livelihoods, promote economic growth and enhance the overall quality of life within the municipality.


He reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to sustainable development and the provision of essential infrastructure needed to support the municipality's growing population and development aspirations.
