The tour aimed to gather first-hand information on market operations and to engage directly with traders on the challenges affecting their businesses. Hon. Owusu Boakye explained that while previous discussions had taken place with market leaders at the Assembly, the visit was crucial to observe conditions on the ground and listen to traders' concerns.

During the engagement, the MCE announced that the government, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, has plans to rehabilitate and upgrade the Koforidua Central Market to enhance trade and improve the overall business environment.

He also disclosed that the Agartha Market has been selected as a site for a 24-Hour Economy Market. Arrangements have been finalized for a sod-cutting ceremony in the coming week to hand over the site to the contractor. Hon. Owusu Boakye encouraged traders to cooperate with the contractor throughout the project’s duration.

Addressing broader economic conditions, the MCE advised traders to consider the prevailing favorable trends in prices of goods and services. He also reminded them of the importance of maintaining safety practices to prevent fire outbreaks in the markets.

Traders used the opportunity to raise several concerns, including the need for streetlights at the Central Market and recurrent flooding due to blocked drains. Some also appealed for stricter measures against traders who abandon their stalls to sell along roadways, which disrupts traffic and market order.

At the Beads Market, sellers presented beads to the MCE as a token of appreciation for the visit. They also appealed for the construction of a perimeter wall to improve security and protect their properties.

The visit concluded with many traders expressing satisfaction with the engagement and optimism about the government's development plans for the municipality.
