They explained that although reshaping works are currently ongoing, the contractor has failed to water the roads regularly, resulting in excessive dust that poses serious health risks, including respiratory-related illnesses.
Speaking to the media at Assin Assamang, the residents, led by Mrs. Effia Agyapong, expressed their frustration over the situation. They noted that while the contract was awarded several years ago, the contractor’s performance has noticeably declined this year.
Confirming the complaints, the Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Gregory Ankomah Gyekye, said his office has received numerous reports about the dust problem, which is negatively affecting schools in the communities.
He added that efforts to resolve the issue have so far yielded no results, as the contractor has remained unresponsive. However, he assured residents that he would continue engaging the contractor to ensure the right actions are taken.
