The commitment was highlighted at an inter-assembly budget hearing organised by the Assembly’s Budget Department, which brought together stakeholders to deliberate on development priorities, financial constraints and strategies to improve service delivery.
The Tema Metropolitan Budget Director, Mr Kofi Herman, led the discussions, guiding participants through the key budget priorities and financial challenges while outlining strategies to enhance revenue generation and ensure the effective use of public resources.
The Assembly stressed the need to adopt innovative approaches to revenue mobilisation, establish strategic partnerships with the private sector and civil society organisations, and prioritise projects that would have significant benefits for residents..jpg)
It also underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation among the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Tema West Municipal Assembly and Krowor Municipal Assembly to address common urban development challenges.
According to the Assembly, knowledge-sharing, joint planning and peer learning among the three assemblies would help improve coordination, promote efficient resource utilisation and enhance the delivery of essential services.
Participants were encouraged to engage actively and constructively in the budget preparation process to ensure that the proposed 2027 budget reflects the needs, priorities and aspirations of residents.
The Assembly further acknowledged the contributions of the Budget Committees, Planning Units, Finance Departments and technical officers whose efforts have been instrumental in preparing the proposed budget.
The inter-assembly budget hearing forms part of efforts to promote participatory planning, strengthen financial management and ensure that development programmes are aligned with the needs of communities.
The Assembly is expected to use the outcome of the deliberations to guide the preparation of its proposed 2027 Annual Action Plan and budget, with a focus on sustainable revenue generation, effective expenditure management and improved service delivery.
