They included Engineers, AVIC International officials and Professor Duah Dwomoh from the University of Ghana.

The team called on Mr. Parke-Davis Magyigbe, the Jasikan Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), to officially introduce themselves and outline the scope, processes, and timelines for the study.

They also visited the Most Rev Gabriel Akwasi Ababio Mantey, the Catholic Bishop of the Jasikan Diocese, who has been instrumental in championing development within the Municipality.

The Bishop pledged his continued support for the project, describing it as a transformative step for the people of Oti region.

The delegation later met Nana Edje Tete Kpase-Brantuo VII, the Adontenhene of Buem Traditional Area and Jasikanhene, to seek his blessings and formally announced the start of work.

The chief expressed their willingness to support the initiative, emphasizing traditional leadership’s commitment to advancing education and development.

As part of their engagements, the team toured the Jasikan Municipal Hospital to assess healthcare delivery and understand the challenges they faced.

That, officials said, was crucial to shaping a curriculum that meets regional and national healthcare needs.

The visit concluded with an inspection of the proposed site for the University-a key step toward actualising the President’s vision of expanding access to tertiary education, particularly in newly created regions.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the MCE, Mr. Magyigbe, described Jasikan as the ideal location for the University, explaining that “it is strategically placed and also a government decision.”

He conveyed the gratitude of the people of Oti to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, and Mr. Iddie Kofi Adams, Member of Parliament for Buem, for their unwavering support toward the realisation of the project.

Mr. Magyigbe also commended the landowners for their swift cooperation and continuous willingness to work with the government to finalise documentation for the project site.
