Lower Manya Krobo Assembly Supports 35 PWDs With Business Equipment and Livelihood Items

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly has distributed livelihood support items to 35 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) as part of government’s efforts to reduce poverty, promote inclusion and empower vulnerable persons to become self-reliant.

The beneficiaries, made up of 18 males and 17 females, received items tailored to their individual assessed needs under the Assembly’s support programme for Persons with Disabilities.

The exercise marks the second distribution of livelihood support to PWDs since the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) assumed office in 2025.

The items distributed included double-decker fridges, chest freezers, ice chests, modern durable plastic chairs, mattresses for hire, bags of dry maize, crates of eggs, bags of sachet water, bags of charcoal, a cassava-dough milling machine and a manual wheelchair, among other items.

Speaking at the distribution exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive said the intervention was designed to provide beneficiaries with the necessary resources to establish and expand small businesses, generate income and improve their livelihoods.

He urged the beneficiaries to put the items to productive use and ensure that the support translates into meaningful improvements in their lives and those of their families.

The MCE further assured Persons with Disabilities in the municipality that the Assembly would continue the programme by supporting new groups of beneficiaries every year until all eligible PWDs in the municipality had been covered.

He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and ensuring that no person is left behind in the municipality’s development process.

The intervention forms part of broader efforts to create economic opportunities for Persons with Disabilities and enable them to contribute actively to the socio-economic development of the municipality.

The Assembly is expected to continue working with relevant stakeholders to identify the needs of PWDs and provide targeted support to improve their economic independence and quality of life.
