The cleanup exercise, which forms part of a broader municipal strategy to improve sanitation and public health, witnessed a strong show of commitment from local leadership and residents alike. Community members turned out in large numbers to participate in activities such as desilting choked gutters, sweeping streets, and clearing refuse from public spaces.
In recognition of the collective effort, commendations have been extended to the Assembly Member for the area, traditional authorities (Nananom), and the people of Akobima for their impressive turnout and dedication to the cause. Their active participation is being viewed as a positive example of how community collaboration can drive meaningful change in local sanitation conditions.

Addressing participants during the exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive, Eric Stanley Acquah, emphasized the importance of sustained communal involvement in maintaining a clean environment. He encouraged residents across the municipality to embrace the spirit of communal labour, noting that sanitation is a shared responsibility that requires consistent effort from all stakeholders.
He further reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to organizing regular clean-up exercises across various electoral areas, aimed at fostering a culture of cleanliness and preventing sanitation-related health challenges.
The Akobima exercise marks another step forward in the municipality’s campaign to create healthier, cleaner communities, with authorities hopeful that the momentum will be maintained and replicated in other areas.
