Awutu Senya East Assembly Assures Readiness in Flood-Prone Communities

The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly has reaffirmed its preparedness to respond effectively to emergencies in vulnerable communities within the municipality, particularly as concerns over flooding continue to rise.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Seth Serwornoo Banini, disclosed this in an interview with GhanaDistricts.TV, where he highlighted measures put in place to ensure the safety of residents.

According to the MCE, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the municipality is fully equipped and on high alert to respond swiftly to any emergencies, particularly flooding incidents that may arise during the rainy season.

He noted that several communities within the municipality have been identified as high-risk areas. These include  Opekuma, Iron City, New Town, and parts of Zongo etc. He assured residents in these areas that adequate preparations have been made to mitigate the impact of any potential disaster.

Mr. Banini further emphasized that NADMO officials have been actively engaging with community members through sensitization programmes, encouraging them to adopt preventive measures such as proper waste disposal and avoiding construction on waterways.

He added that the Assembly is working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure that relief items and emergency response teams are readily available when needed.

The Municipal Chief Executive also urged residents to cooperate with authorities and adhere to safety directives to minimize risks and safeguard lives and property.

He said  Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly remains committed to protecting its citizens and strengthening disaster preparedness across all communities.
