Ayawaso East Assembly Holds Third Session of General Assembly to Review Development Plans and Budget
Date Created : 11/5/2026 : Story Author : Afia Obeng Yeboah/ Ghanadistricts.com
The meeting brought together the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Hon. Baba Jamal, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Alhaji Abdul Shamrock Gafaru, Assembly Members, Heads of Department and other stakeholders to discuss programmes and interventions aimed at advancing development in the municipality.
During the meeting, presentations were made by various departments, including the Planning Department, represented by Mrs. Rebecca Annan, and the Budget Department, represented by Madam Adiza. The presentations highlighted activities and projects to be undertaken with funding from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and the Member of Parliament's Common Fund.
Among the proposed interventions under the MP's Common Fund are the acquisition of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, food distribution during the Ramadan period, payment of school fees for deserving students and the provision of refreshments for community engagements.
Addressing members, the Member of Parliament, Hon. Baba Jamal, emphasised the need for Assembly meetings to be interactive and constructive rather than interrogative. He noted that a more engaging approach to deliberations, particularly on budgets and development action plans, would promote productive discussions and enhance professionalism in the Assembly's decision-making processes.
Contributing to the discussions, Assembly Member Hon. Baba Alhaji called for deliberate plans to transform the Nima-gutter stretch into an Economic Hub. He explained that such a development would help give the area a more productive economic purpose and prevent its continued use for cattle rearing.
The proposal formed part of the broader discussions on identifying development opportunities and making better use of available spaces within the municipality to support economic activities and improve the local environment.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament, Assembly Members, Heads of Department and other stakeholders for their participation and contributions.
He encouraged all stakeholders to sustain the spirit of cooperation and work together towards the successful implementation of the Assembly's development plans for the benefit of residents.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of stakeholder engagement, effective planning and collaboration in promoting responsive local governance and accelerating development across the Ayawaso East Municipality.
