Darkuman Junction has become a major flood-prone area whenever the rains begin, with choked and inadequate drainage systems often causing floodwaters to spill onto the roads. In some instances, residents say the roads remain flooded even after rainfall has stopped.
The situation has disrupted movement, affected businesses and raised concerns among residents and road users who have had to navigate through stagnant water.
Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, announced the commencement of work, describing it as an important step towards finding a lasting solution to the flooding problem.

She said the intervention forms part of broader efforts to ensure that Ablekuma North continues to move forward through improved infrastructure and better living conditions for residents.
The project is expected to focus on addressing the drainage challenges along the Darkuman Junction–Hansonic Junction corridor, with the aim of improving water flow and reducing the recurrence of flooding in the area.
Residents are hopeful that the commencement of the works will bring lasting relief and restore safer and more convenient movement within the community.
