Okaikwei North MCE Leads Clean-Up Exercise Along N1 Highway

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Okaikwei North, Christian Tetteh Badger, has led a morning clean-up exercise along the N1 Highway as part of efforts to improve sanitation and maintain the environmental integrity of the municipality.

The exercise brought together Environmental Health Officers and members of the Sanitation Team of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly to clear waste and plastic litter accumulated along sections of the major highway.

The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to keep major roads and public spaces clean while promoting responsible sanitation practices among residents.

Speaking during the exercise, the MCE stressed the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining a clean environment, particularly along major highways that serve as important gateways to the city.

He noted that the condition of the N1 Highway contributes to the image of the municipality and the wider city, and therefore urged residents to desist from indiscriminate disposal of waste.

Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger reiterated his position that maintaining a clean environment cannot be left solely to government agencies, stressing that “nobody will clean it for us; we must do it ourselves.”

He called on residents, traders, motorists and other road users to support the Assembly’s sanitation initiatives by properly disposing of waste and avoiding activities that contribute to littering along the highway.

The clean-up exercise is expected to complement the Assembly’s broader sanitation measures aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents of Okaikwei North.
