The facility was commissioned by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Abubakar Issaka, marking the official establishment of a Junior High School in the community and providing children with improved access to education closer to home.
The modern facility comprises three fully furnished classrooms, a staff common room, a head teacher’s office and a store room, providing a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Issaka expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project and called on teachers, students and community members to protect and maintain the facility to ensure that it serves generations to come.
The DCE also urged parents, teachers and community leaders to work together to address pupil absenteeism, which he identified as a major challenge to academic performance in the district.

The District Engineer, Mr. Hayford Kwame Sefah, confirmed that the contractor completed the project according to the approved specifications, including all the required classrooms and auxiliary facilities.
Representing the District Education Director, Mr. Kingsley Adu Ampomah commended the Assembly for prioritising education and urged the community to take ownership of the facility and maintain it properly.
The Chief of Mempekasa welcomed the project and described it as a major educational legacy for the community. He pledged the community’s support towards protecting the facility and improving school attendance and academic performance.
The new JHS is expected to significantly reduce the distance children in Mempekasa travel to access junior high education, while creating a more convenient and supportive learning environment.
The project represents an important investment in the educational future of Mempekasa and reinforces the Sekyere Afram Plains District’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and improving educational infrastructure in rural communities.
