The move he said help bring all the operators of pragea under one umbrella in order to regulate their movement and ensure discipline on our roads.

According to Baba Mumuni, most of these tricycles are being introduced into the Municipality each day although the government has not really endorsed them into the system but since they keep on coming, operating and it is creating job for the teaming youth within the Municipality the Assembly thought it wise to draw-up a road map that will consolidate their activities and also to generate revenue for the Assembly.

He added that just this month, about forty and still counting has been registered with the Municipality but they all need to have a commercial driving license and also issued a sticker before they can do business. Although most of them are operating without license, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) are responsible for checking their license when they apply for road worth or register the tricycles.

He continued that the City Guide are trying to limit their passage areas due to the nature of their vehicles. “We have discussed with them at length about the route which they do not supposed to ply and they are Adweso to Mile 50 road, Highway, kasajan, and Oyoko route. This directives are as a result of avoiding accident in future”

He was quick to add that any operator who flout on the rules will be apprehend and fined.

In moderating their movement, he said one of the issues the City Guides are trying to resolve is the time frame to start and close. In fact they are to begin work at 5:30am and close at 6:30pm to avoid any uncontrollable incidents on our roads.

Mr. Baba Mumuni advised that the drivers should stop seeing the City Guides as enemies and cooperate with them because they are working for the drivers’ safety and the country at large.

He further appealed to the management of the Assembly to provide road signs to direct and control the drivers, since these road signs are not available, the drivers will also pretend they are unaware of certain rules such as bus stops and no parking areas.
